SEPTEMBER 2008

SEPTEMBER 26, 2008--Sorry for the silence; been busy with school and the animal shelter. I have been looking for places to send blankets down in Louisiana and Texas. According to Heather from Blankets for the Gulf, Cameron , Louisiana where some of our first blankets went three years ago, was hit hard once again when Ike blew through.I am on it! And heatyher will let us know when she hears of any requests.

Fall is arriving and in between three weeks of spay and neuter clinics--last week we did 37 cats--I am trying to get the yard winterized. Tomorrow I am bubble-wrapping the greenhouse. Yesterday, I made saurkraut and the last pickles were canned. . . so I guess we know what comes next. Thanks to Kathy from New York for two beautiful blankets--really beautiful work, Kath! They were her Olympic Challenge. And yes the gang from Canyon Villas have been busy as usual, sending us lots of squares. We even had a bunch of squares donated anonymously in town. Apparently, the crocheted ones were done by one of our ninety-year-old squares! Hope I will be that productive!

SEPT 1, 2008--David and Brandy evacuted on Sunday to ATLANTA. They apparently heard their street's name called out by the mayor as a mandatory evaqcuation area, so they left. David said the highway they headed out on was empty except for the National Guard--eerily so until he got on the road to Alabama, and it was bumper to bumper until the Georgia border. Also got an email from the Common Ground group--here's a few websites set up for this hurricane by the group:
