Mission Statement

Close Knit Hugs provides handmade blankets to victims of U.S. natural disasters, created from handknit squares contributed by persons across the globe. These blankets are "new heirlooms" for people who have lost most or all their worldly possessions. The organization engages any person who wants to knit or crochet a square to help create a blanket. Completed blankets demonstrate to victims that many people from all areas and backgrounds--from children to senior citizens--care for and embrace them in their times of need. The project also empowers citizens, people who, with one knitted square sent to our organization, look beyond themselves and see the world as their community and its wellbeing their responsibility.
