JUNE 18, 2008--Can you believe the midwest flooding? Having grown up in Missouri, I can remember many floods, but these have been incredible. We're having rain here, but living atop a sand hill and surrounded by lakes that are shrinking, we don't see the power of rivers and the importance of levees which are compromised. If anyone has suggestions for blankets being sent to Iowa or Illinois or heck anywhere , email me. The last batch are headed for New Orleans and Common Ground, and I hate to say this, but New Orleans is also in danger if the flood waters ,which will ultimately reach them, breach their delicate levee system. Here's a link to Levee's Org, an organization concerned with the entire US levee system. Thanks to Meredith, a new contributor from Georgia as well as all my old-timers! And yeah, we're still at it.
June 3, 2008--Will be getting pictures taken tomorrow and the boxes out by week's end. Due to a skirmish between me, the dog and one of our cats, I was bitten on the left hand by the cat. And in case you all weren't aware, cat bites are nasty! The dog and cat are of course back to being best friends while I am on antibiotics and had to get a tetnus shot. But the good news is it is finally warming up here!
