1994-1996  NORTH LAKE COLLEGE, Irving, Texas,A comprehensive community college within the Dallas Community College District of Community Colleges with an enrollment of approximately 7,000 full-time students and serving the high-technology areas of Irving and Las Colinas. 

Dean of Continuing Education, Careers and Contract Training, Duties included the following:      Planned, organized and supervised all activities and staff (13 full-time and 80 part-time Employees) in the Division. Planned, developed, implemented and administered Division Budget, a profit-center generating more than $3 Million.  Business and industry liaison for the college. Designed, developed and implemented new programs and curricula, i.e., Six Hats Creative Thinking Training; Professional Development Skills Training. Recruited, supervised and evaluated performance of faculty in Continuing Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), Program Directors, Account Executives for Contract Training, Counselors for Career Training and Trainers for Business and Industry.         Grant Development and Writing, i.e., Found/wrote and awarded the Options Grant from the MacArthur Foundation to develop/implement a Speakers Bureau on International Safety Issues.

 

1992-1994  NORTHCENTRAL TECHNICAL COLLEGE,Wausau, Wisconsin,Part of the technical college system in Wisconsin, which focused on applied associate’s degrees leading to employment for its 4,000 full-time students. 

                Dean of Business and Marketing.  Duties included the following:Planned, organized and implemented the Business/Marketing academic programs for the main campus and five branch campuses serviced through a Distance Learning Program (ITV). Supervised two Associate Deans, Two full-time secretaries, 25 full-time Faculty and 50 part-time Faculty.Business and Industry Liaison for the College.         Designed, developed and implemented new programs and curricula.  For example a Microcomputer Degree and expanded the Fashion Design program.  Also Implemented a successful yearly retreat combining faculty, other divisions and support staff to review and revise curriculums. Provided educational guidance, support and leadership for the college. Planned, organized, implemented, administered on-going Occupational Advisory Boards. Planned, developed and administered the Budget for the Business/Marketing Division on Campus and at 5 Branch Campus sites.  Administered the Continuing Education and Contract Training business and marketing offerings to Business and Industry.Negotiated for administration with the faculty and classified unions. Arbitrated mediated faculty union, and administration grievances. Worked with faculty/administration and board of trustees in adapting to a shared-governance philosophy.  Made regular presentations to both the College Board of Trustees and State Board of Education.

 

1988-1992  ROCK VALLEY COLLEGE, Rockford, Illinois.A comprehensive community college serving over 400,000 residents in Boone and Winnebago Counties; 12,000 full time students; Over 200 full-time employees; No collective bargaining unit. 

            Director of the Business Division.  Duties included the following: Planned, organized, administered the Academic Program for the Business Division, which had 7,000 full-time, equated students. Led, managed and supervised the Divisions 17 full-time and 45 part-time faculty, One Administrative Assistant and Night Secretary.Designed, Developed and Instituted new programs and curricula, i.e., International Trade Degree/Certificate; Hospitality Management Degree/Certificate; Cultural Diversity Certificate; Materials Management Degree; Legal Secretary Degree.Business and Industry Liaison for the College. Established partnerships for College with Business, industry and organizations.  Successful examples include the Rockford South Rotary, which funded and sponsored the credited-program for minority students on the West Side of Rockford; Rockford Airport Authority funded and sponsored offerings of International Classes and Cultural Diversity on-site at the airport and industrial parks. Established branch campus sites for the Business Division Curricula. Examples include, the American Institute of Banking (AIB) program whereby credited classes were conducted on-site at the financial institutions; Full-Year of Credit Classes on the west side (addressed the needs of minority students) of Rockford; Designed and developed the International Program at the Rockford Airport Authority Free-Trade Zone; successfully implemented First-semester Business classes taught on-site at all twelve area high schools.Worked in close conjunction with other Division Directors in designing specialized programs, classes, seminars, i.e., Small Business Management; Business & Technology Series; Sales Training Program; Women & Technology Series; Middle-School Children & Technology Series. Coordinated the Tech-Prep Initiative for the Business Division. Assisted with development of School-to-Work Initiative. Established off-site Culinary program.  Planned, chaired Northern Illinois Community College Deans Annual Business Convention in Rockford. Established and Administered Budget for Business Division. Negotiated for Administration with non-union faculty. Regular presentations and interaction with the Board of Trustees.    Instrumental in Rock Valley College receiving the President’s “E” Award for Excellence in Export Services, 1993.     Served as College Administrative representative in the following organizations:  Northern Illinois Dean’s Association, Northern Illinois Export Council, Rockford Chamber of Commerce, Rockford South Rotary,Rockford Industrial Council.

                       

1975-1988            ALPENA COMMUNITY COLLEGE, Alpena, Michigan,A comprehensive community college located in Northeast Michigan with an enrollment of approximately 2,200 full-time students. 

                Occupational Chairperson, Duties included the following:      Elected to position by peers.         Managed, supervised 13 full-time and 20 part-time Instructors. Planned, developed and administered Divisional Budget.  Managed, supervised, and evaluated programs and faculty from the following functional areas:  Business, Nursing, Law Enforcement, Computer Science and Office Technology. Designed and developed partnerships with Business and Industry for Student. Marketing Research Programs.         Designed and developed Summer Business Training Seminars in Microcomputers.Planned and Coordinated Occupational Advisory Board Meetings.  Negotiated with Union faculty members.Mediated grievances.
