There are many reasons for America's obesity epidemic. Most of the reasons sited include lack of exercise and poor
food choices. Many researchers have also added lack of sleep to the list. Thirty-five years ago, people averaged 8-9 hours
of sleep. Today, many people are down to 6-7. In order to keep up energy levels, people are turning to food.
Studies have shown that people who are sleep deprived
eat as much as 10-15 percent more calories. This can add up to several extra pounds
over the course of a few years.
